Had to start our trip with a family get together of course. Can't leave on a long trip without seeing my kids and grandkids.
Started out with a rainbow and a dust storm. Should be an interesting trip.
Headed towards Abilene for the first night. Not too much happening in Abilene. The next day we drove to Roswell, NM. Gotta love Roswell. UFO Museum, Aliens, Mexican Food and friendly people.
The first day we drove out to Bitter Lake National Wildlife Area to see what there was to see. Did a short hike and saw some birds and some wildflowers still blooming. Startled a Great Blue Heron, but didn't get a picture.
Today we drove into town and went to the UFO Museum. Lots of theories, ideas and general wishful thinking when it comes to aliens. Not sure I would want to meet one.
Next we drove out to Bottomless Lake State Park to explore. It's a nice quiet place to camp. We have stayed here before, but they didn't have any sites for while we are in Roswell.
Tomorrow we will head on to Albuquerque for the International Hot Air Balloon Festival. Will do next blog from there. Stay safe family and friends.
