WANDERING NEW MEXICO

WANDERING....WHAT WE DO BEST

After leaving Roswell, we headed to Albuquerque.   This was our main goal for this trip....The Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Fiesta.  We picked up Margaret at the airport on Thursday.  Friday we went out to the Petroglyph National Monument and Saturday we got up EARLY and headed to the Trinity Site near San Antonio, NM.  Site of the first atomic bomb testing, it was pretty interesting.  Had to wait in a line of traffic until the site opened and then headed in.

Sunday morning we met friends Bob and Jonnye Williamson (high school friends) and drove up to the top of Sandia Peak to see what we could see of the Balloon Fiesta up there.  It was chilly, but offered a great view.

On Monday, October 3, we had tickets to the Gondola Club, a part of the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta.  The club gives you prime seating, breakfast, nice rest rooms, access to the field and just an all around nice experience.  We went out on the field when the balloons starting inflating, but unfortunately they did not launch that day because of extreme wind conditions.

We are going back to the Balloon Fiesta tomorrow (we got free entrance tickets since they didn't launch on Monday).  The weather reports are showing green flag for Wednesday, so hopefully we will get many, many more pictures.  Will do another blog entry just from the Balloon Fiesta.  Enjoy!
